The Regular Season in ProB just started. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Chalons-Reims on the court of Boulazac Basket on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Boulazac Basket 79-62. Boulazac dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Chalons-Reims‘ 22. They outrebounded Chalons-Reims 39-26 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Boulazac looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Gambian Ousman Krubally (202-1988, college: Georgia St., agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Spanish guard Marcos Suka-Umu (193-1985) contributed with 18 points and 4 assists for the winners. Boulazac Basket’s coach Alexandre Menard used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Jamaican-Canadian point guard Javon Masters (183-1994, college: UNB, agency: Blacktop Management) answered with 12 points and 7 rebounds for Chalons-Reims. Boulazac Basket is looking forward to face Rouen on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Chalons-Reims will play against Roanne and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another interesting game for Aix-Maurienne which played on the court of Nantes. Aix-Maurienne had an easy win 87-74. American forward Carlos Pepin (201-2000, college: ESU) stepped up and scored 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and Gide Noel chipped in 9 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side Mali Ibrahima Haidara (205-1992) responded with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Aix-Maurienne will play against Hyeres-Toulon at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Nantes will play against Chartres and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game was also tough home loss of Evreux in a game versus undefeated Fos-sur-Mer 85-75. Mathieu Wojciechowski nailed 19 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Aaron Levarity came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 21 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for ALM Evreux in the defeat. ALM Evreux’s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. Fos-sur-Mer will meet at home Pau-Lacq-Orthez in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Evreux will play against Poitiers and hope to win that game.
Other games in round 1 were not that significant. Rouen smashed Hyeres-Toulon on the road 85-63. Orleans won against Antibes on its own court 78-71. Saint-Chamond lost to Gries-Souffel in a road game 94-99. Caen managed to beat Poitiers at home 95-91. Vichy lost to Pau-Lacq-Orthez on the opponent’s court 71-75. Blois beat Denain-Voltaire in a home game 83-70. Chartres lost to Roanne on the road 71-108.
The most impressive performance of 1st round was 19 points by Florian Leopold of Roanne.

But Hyeres-Toulon was not able to use a home court advantage and was crushed by the opponent from Rouen 85-63 on Friday night. Rouen made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Guard Clarence Nadolny (192-2000, college: Texas Tech) nailed 17 points and 6 assists (made all of his seven free throws) for the winning side and Guyanese forward Youri Golitin (202-1997) accounted for 12 points and 9 rebounds. Four SPO Rouen players scored in double figures. Point guard Mathis Keita (192-1992, college: IUP) came up with 20 points and American-Nigerian power forward Ike Nweke (201-2000, college: Quinnipiac) added 5 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Hyeres-Toulon in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. SPO Rouen will meet at home Boulazac in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Hyeres-Toulon will play against Aix-Maurienne in Aix-les-Bains and hope to win that game.
