Giovanni Veronesi (198-SF-1998, agency: SLN) had a very impressive game in the last round for UCC Assigeco Piacenza and that’s him to receive a Hoops Agents Serie A2 Player of the Week award for round 25.
The 25-year old had the game-high 30 points adding four rebounds and five assists for Piacenza in his team’s victory, helping them to beat Monferrato (#11, 6-19) 89-76. Piacenza is placed at 7th position in Italian Serie A2. Piacenza is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 11-14 record. In the team’s last game Veronesi had a remarkable 63.6% from 2-point range and got three three-pointers out of 7 attempts. He turned to be Piacenza‘s top player in his first season with the team. Giovanni Veronesi averages this season 14.3ppg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round’s games was young American forward Grant Basile (206-F-2000) of Agribertocchi Orzinuovi. Basile impressed basketball fans with 23 points and 8 rebounds. Bad luck as Orzinuovi was edged by the higher-ranked Rieti Real (#4, 15-10) 74-72. Orzinuovi managed to keep the same 11th spot in Group Green. His team is not often considered as one of the league’s best with a mere 8-17 record. Basile is a newcomer at Orzinuovi and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team’s leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.4ppg (#2). He also registered 9.6 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was American Jazz Johnson (178-PG-1996) of SSD Real Sebastiani Rieti (#4). Johnson scored 23 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. He was a key player of Rieti Real, leading his team to a 74-72 win against the lower-ranked Orzinuovi (#11, 8-17). Johnson has a great season in Italy. After 25 games, he made it on the list of the league’s leaders in points with 20.4ppg (3rd best) and rebounds with 3.7rpg (4th best). He also has a FGP of 50.3% and 3PT: 42.3%.

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it’s accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) – 2*BSAG – 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM – 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) – 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) – (FTA-FTM)
