26-year old DR Congolese center Viny Okouo (214-C-1997) had an amazing evening in the last round for Amics Castello and receives a Hoops Agents LEB Gold Player of the Week award for round 21.
He had a double-double of 33 points and 11 rebounds, while his team edged out Caceres (#17, 5-16) 84-81. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Castello maintains the 16th position in Spanish LEB Gold. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 15 games and recorded just six victories. Okouo just recently signed at Castello, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Viny Okouo averages this season 13.8ppg and 8.2rpg.
Second best performed player last round was Justin Turner (193-G-1998) of Club Ourense Baloncesto. He is American guard in his first season at Ourense. In the last game Turner recorded an impressive 31 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists. It was enough for Ourense to edge slightly lower-ranked Oviedo (#11, 8-13) by 5 points 88-83. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Ourense keeps 9th position. His team is not often considered as one of the league’s best with a mere 10-11 record. Turner is a newcomer at Ourense and quickly became one of team’s most reliable players.
Third place about best performers goes to guard Mateo Diaz (186-G-2002) of Urbas Fuenlabrada Madrid (#15). Diaz scored 20 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Despite Diaz’s great performance the Fuenlabrada lost 79-85 to the higher-ranked Burgos T. (#3, 15-6). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Fuenlabrada not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 14 games, recording just seven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Diaz could try to bring Fuenlabrada’s a little bit higher in the standings. Diaz has a very solid season. In 21 games in Spain he scored 10.0ppg.

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it’s accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) – 2*BSAG – 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM – 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) – 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) – (FTA-FTM)
