25-year old point guard Elkhan Akhmedov (182-PG-1998) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Zenit Saint Petersburg 2nd team and receives a Hoops Agents Superleague 1 Player of the Week award for round 18.
He had the game-high 27 points adding two rebounds and five assists for Zenit-2 in his team’s victory, helping them to beat Univ.Surgut (#12, 7-11) 84-75. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Zenit-2 is placed at 9th position in Russian Superleague 1. Zenit-2 is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 9-9 record. In the team’s last game Akhmedov had a remarkable 55.6% from 2-point range and got three three-pointers out of 6 attempts. It was one of impressive evenings for him as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Akhmedov has impressive league stats. He is in league’s top in assists (5th best: 4.6apg).

Second best performed player last round was Alexey Nesterov (205-PF-1988) of BARS-RGEU Rostov. He is a forward in his first season at BARS-RGEU. In the last game Nesterov recorded an impressive 21 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad luck as BARS-RGEU was edged by the higher-ranked MBA-2 (#8, 9-9) 85-83. This loss caused BARS-RGEU to drop to 13th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league’s best with a mere 7-11 record. Nesterov is a newcomer at BARS-RGEU and quickly became one of team’s most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to Artem Pisarchuk (205-C/F-1992) of Universitet-Yugra Surgut (#12). Pisarchuk scored 18 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Despite Pisarchuk’s great performance the Univ.Surgut lost 75-84 to the higher-ranked Zenit-2 (#9, 9-9). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Univ.Surgut not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 11 games, recording just seven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Pisarchuk could try to bring Univ.Surgut’s a little bit higher in the standings. Pisarchuk has individually a great season in Russia. After 18 games, he made it on the list of the league’s leaders in rebounds with 7.7rpg (2nd best).
