33-year old forward Julius Kazakauskas (196-F-1990) had an amazing evening in the last round for Palangos Kursiai and receives a Hoops Agents NKL Player of the Week award for round 26.
He had a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds, while his team beat Jurbarkas (#5, 14-12) 89-84. Palanga maintains the 3rd position in Lithuanian NKL. They are still close to the very top. Palanga would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 21-5 record. It was one of impressive evenings for Kazakauskas as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Kazakauskas has impressive league stats. He is in league’s top in rebounds (8th best: 7.8rpg) and averages solid 2.3bpg and 67.8% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Gediminas Alisas (196-PF-2004, agency: BIG) of BC Rytas Vilnius 2nd team. He is a forward in his second season at Rytas 2. In the last game Alisas recorded an impressive 39 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists. Bad luck as Rytas 2 was edged by the higher-ranked Delikatesas (#8, 12-13) 103-99. Rytas 2 is still second from the bottom in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league’s best with a mere 8-18 record. Alisas is well-known at Rytas 2 and he already established his position as one of the team’s leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.3ppg (#5). He also registered 9.1 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to another Rytas 2’s star – guard Modestas Babraitis (194-SG-2004). Babraitis showcased his all-around game by recording 19 points, 11 rebounds (!!!) and 8 assists in the last round. Despite Babraitis’ great performance the BC Rytas Vilnius lost 99-103 to the higher-ranked Delikatesas (#8, 12-13). But his team cannot count on just these two top stars as they also need help of the other teammates. The chances of Rytas not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 18 games, recording just eight victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Babraitis could try to bring Rytas 2′ a little bit higher in the standings. Babraitis has individually a great season in Lithuania. After 16 games, he made it on the list of the league’s leaders in rebounds with 9.3rpg (#1 in league).

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it’s accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) – 2*BSAG – 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM – 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) – 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) – (FTA-FTM)
