Bottom-ranked Artland Dragons managed to get a second victory, breaking the series of three consecutive losses on Tuesday night. This time they won against ninth-ranked Bayreuth in Quakenbrueck 83-70. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Bayreuth. Artland looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Buzz Anthony (180-1998, college: RMC) who scored 17 points and 9 assists. Kilian Binapfl (198-2000) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Esa Ahmad (203-1996, college: WVU) who recorded 24 points and 5 rebounds. Bayreuth’s coach Mladen Drijencic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. Artland maintains eighteenth place with 2-13 record. Bayreuth at the other side dropped to the eighth position with seven games lost. They share it with Dresden and Karlsruhe PS. Artland are looking forward to face higher ranked Paderborn (#16) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bayreuth will play against Kirchheim (#5) and is hoping to win this game.
The game in Giessen was also worth to mention about. Third ranked Gladiators (12-3) played at the court of 5th ranked 46ers (10-6). Gladiators managed to secure a 4-point victory 85-81. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of 46ers. It was a good game for Iranian Behnam Yakhchali (196-1995, agency: BIG) who led his team to a victory with 20 points (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Clay Guillozet contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Slovakian point guard Simon Krajcovic (188-1994, college: LMU) answered with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for Giessen. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Gladiators have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Trier keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Jena and Frankfurt. Giessen at the other side dropped to the sixth place with six games lost. Trier will play against Koblenz (#12) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Giessen will play against the league’s leader Jena (#1) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in Karlsruhe was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Phoenix Hagen (11-4) played at the court of 8th ranked Lions (8-7). Phoenix Hagen managed to secure a 8-point victory 79-71 on Wednesday. It was a great evening for Siler Schneider who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points. The best for the losing side was Bakary Dibba with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Hagen maintains fourth place with 11-4 record. Loser Lions keeps the eighth position with seven games lost. They share it with Bayreuth and Dresden. Hagen will meet at home Nuernberg (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Karlsruhe PS will play against Muenster and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games of round 15 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Muenster crushed Nuernberg in a road game 84-62. Kirchheim beat Paderborn at home 85-68. Bremerhaven won against Duesseldorf on the opponent’s court 86-75. Bochum unfortunately lost to Jena in a home game 73-83. Vechta 2 recorded a loss to Dresden on the road 94-97. Koblenz was defeated by Frankfurt on its own court 54-69.
The best stats of 15th round was 13 points by Kevin McClain of Frankfurt.



Giessen – Trier 81-85

The game in Giessen was also worth to mention about. Third ranked Gladiators (12-3) played at the court of 5th ranked 46ers (10-6). Gladiators managed to secure a 4-point victory 85-81. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of 46ers. Trier made 21-of-23 charity shots (91.3 percent) during the game. It was a good game for Iranian Behnam Yakhchali (196-1995, agency: BIG) who led his team to a victory with 20 points (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). American forward Clay Guillozet (193-1997, college: Valdosta St.) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Gladiators players scored in double figures. There was no surprise in Nuernberg where 11th ranked Falcons (6-9) were crushed by seventh ranked Muenster (9-6) 84-62 on Tuesday. Muenster made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Muenster especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. It was a great evening for American forward Nathan Scott (203-1999, college: EMU) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points and 5 rebounds. Icelandic guard Hilmar Petursson (190-2000, agency: Blacktop Management) helped adding 15 points. The best for the losing side was Julius Wolf (205-1993) with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and American guard Anthony Gaines (193-1998, college: Siena, agency: VM Hoops Agency) scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Muenster maintains seventh place with 9-6 record. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Dresden made 31-of-37 free shots (83.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for guard Daniel Kirchner (187-1997) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Canadian Tanner Graham (200-1996, college: Queen’s) helped adding 13 points and 8 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). Four Titans players scored in double figures. Vechta 2 will play against the league’s second-placed Frankfurt where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
