JA Vichy was defeated by SPO Rouen in a tough game in Rouen 77-84. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of JA Vichy. Rouen dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to JA Vichy‘s 28. Rouen looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American point guard Akaemji Williams (175-1996, college: LSSU) fired 19 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners. DR Congolese Yasmin Mambo (205-2002) chipped in 13 points and 11 rebounds. Ilias Kamardine (193-2003) produced 21 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Rouen maintains fourth place with 9-4 record, which they share with Orleans. Vichy Clermont at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. They share it with Boulazac. Rouen is looking forward to face EB Orthez (#7) in Pau in the next round. Vichy Clermont will play at home against Denain-Voltaire (#10) and is hoping to win this game.
Leader La Rochelle delivered the twelfth victory. This time they beat 11th ranked ALM Evreux (5-8) 90-77. Worth to mention a great performance of Swedish Johan Lofberg (199-1995) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 5 rebounds (perfect behind the arc making all five shots). Matheo Leray contributed with 12 points and 9 assists for the winners. La Rochelle’s coach Julien Cortey allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American power forward Joe Burton (202-1990, college: Oregon St., agency: GoEmpire Group) answered with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for Evreux. La Rochelle (12-1) have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. Stade Rochelais maintains first place. Evreux at the other side keeps the eleventh position with eight games lost. They share it with Poitiers. Stade Rochelais will play against Angers (#17) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Evreux will play against Orleans (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Poitiers will play against the league’s second-placed Boulazac (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.

Other games of round 13 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Orleans defeated Angers in a road game 105-92. Boulazac beat EB Orthez at home 82-76. ASA was destroyed by Chalons-Reims on the opponent’s court 75-52. Denain-Voltaire unfortunately lost to Lille in a home game 69-86. Bottom-ranked Fos-sur-Mer recorded a loss to Nantes on the road 70-82. St.Chamond defeated Aix-Maurienne on its own court 75-63.



Angers – Orleans 92-105

There was no surprise when 16th ranked Etoile Angers (3-10) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Entente Orleans 45 (9-4) 105-92 on Friday. Orleans dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Etoile Angers‘ 44. They outrebounded Angers 35-22 including a 28-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Orleans looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American power forward Zena Edosomwan (206-1993, college: Harvard) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners and Lorenzo Thirouard-Samson (197-2001, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 15 points. Entente Orleans 45’s coach Germain Castano used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side swingman Shawn Tanner (194-2001) responded with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and American point guard Brandon Averette (179-1997, college: BYU) scored 18 points and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Orleans moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Rouen. Angers lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the seventeenth position with ten games lost. They share it with Fos-sur-Mer. Orleans will meet at home Evreux (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Angers will play against the league’s leader Stade Rochelais (#1) in La Rochelle and hope to secure a win.

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Boulazac Basket (10-3) defeated at home 7th ranked Pau-Lacq-Orthez (7-6) 82-76 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Boulazac forced 19 EB Orthez turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Boulazac Basket. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Vichy Clermont. Loser Pau-Lacq-Orthez keeps the seventh position with six games lost. They share it with Nantes and Lille.
