Austin Rivers was a guest on The Bill Simmons Podcast and he had a wide-ranging conversation with Simmons about his career, the NBA and basketball in general. When the topic of him being unsigned came up, Rivers admitted he was surprised, but said there are two teams he has his eyes on.
The veteran guard said he’d like to play for the Miami Heat. Rivers noted that if Miami trades for Damian Lillard, they will likely have several roster spots to fill, so he’s being patient and watching that situation.
Rivers also said he’d like to play for the Boston Celtics. He noted that he reached out to Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens directly. He said that he and Stevens had a “great talk” and agreed to see where things were at down the line.
