In a tense battle of Western Conference titans, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s fourth-quarter heroics propelled the Oklahoma City Thunder to a thrilling 102-97 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Gilgeous-Alexander’s 33-point performance, with 11 crucial points in the final quarter, showcased his clutch abilities and secured the Thunder’s win, bringing them within one game of the Timberwolves in the standings.
Despite the impressive victory, Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards hinted at preferential treatment for Gilgeous-Alexander by the referees.
Edwards, who contributed 19 points to the Timberwolves’ effort, expressed frustration at the perceived leniency in officiating towards the Thunder guard.
“It’s hard to [contain them] with the calls that Shai gets,” Edwards remarked in a statement to Chris Hine of Minneapolis Star-Tribune. “t’s hard to shut them down. You can’t touch him any time of the game. It’s super hard to beat. That team is a good team, especially when they’re getting calls like that.”
