Minnesota Timberwolves standout Anthony Edwards has responded to recent allegations by a woman, Paige Jordae, who claimed the former No. 1 draft pick urged her to undergo an abortion.
Edwards, known for his on-court prowess, is facing scrutiny after a series of social media posts by Jordae posted by TMZ revealed a text conversation detailing Edwards’ purported request for an abortion and financial assistance.
In the alleged messages, Edwards is said to have remarked, “Get an abortion lol,” and pledged financial support, expressing his disinterest in having children.
Jordae wrote in one message “Honestly I had an abortion with my son around 2 years ago and I regret it everyday,” but Edwards insisted on her getting an abortion, to which she agreed after Edwards offered money, allegedly $100,000.
Responding to the controversy, Edwards acknowledged that his comments were made “in the heat of a moment” and do not align with his true beliefs. He emphasized the importance of supporting women in making decisions about their bodies.
In a statement, Edwards stated, “I made comments in the heat of a moment that are not me, and that are not aligned with what I believe and who I want to be as a man. All women should be supported and empowered to make their own decisions about their bodies and what is best for them. I am handling my personal matters privately and will not be commenting on them any further at this time.”
