The Las Vegas Aces defeated the New York Liberty 70-69 in Game 4 to win the 2023 WNBA Finals. The Aces become the first team to win back-to-back WNBA titles since 2002.
A’ja Wilson had 24 points and 16 rebounds in the game on her way to winning Finals MVP after finishing in third in the regular-season MVP balloting.
The Aces played the game without starters Chelsea Gray and Kiah Stokes, who were each injured in Game 3. The Aces also have been without Candace Parker since her foot surgery in July.
“We’ve been facing adversity all season, playing without different players. … We have some professional fighters,” said Alysha Clark, who was pressed into the starting lineup Wednesday. “To weather the storm of everything we went through, to show up every single day. To be in this moment right now and do it together, it speaks volumes about us, our chemistry.”
