Jayson Tatum and Anthony Edwards faced off for the first time since the release of Netflix’s Starting 5 Documentary where Ant dissed the Celtics star.
It looks like Tatum has the upper hand for now, after the Celtics’ 107-105 win over the Timberwolves on Sunday, where he recorded 26 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals.
“We had two good games against each other last year, and obviously, we spent the summer with each other at the Olympics,” Tatum said after the game. “I love Ant. He’s a hell of a player and a hell of a competitor. He talks a lot. And he had a lot to say this summer about the games we played against him last year.”
Edwards’ trash-talk from the show did catch Tatum’s attention, but he wasn’t too phased by it.
“I saw it. We was talking a lot of sh*t to each other during the summer,” Tatum added. “I got a pretty good record against Minnesota in my career. That was the one time he beat us so far.
“But I mean, it’s fun. They’re a really good team, they’re well-coached. They’ve got some talent over there, so I’m certain for the near-future the games against those guys will be really fun ones.”
Edwards’ comments were made after the Wolves got a 114-109 win over the eventual champions the C’s last season.
After the game, the show filmed Edwards questioning why Tatum is hailed as one of the top talents in the league.
“You seen Tatum trying to get me on the switch, locked his a** up two times,” Edwards said. “He started talking s***. Tatum was talking crazy, saying, ‘Yeah, I’m here,’ then I said, ‘I’m coming again.’ Talking ‘bout best player in the league, y’all trippin’.”
