Referee admits error on Giannis Antetokounmpo's foul call against Charlotte

Rod Boone: Spoke with crew chief Curtis Blair. He said afterwards, they reviewed play and foul should NOT have been called on Giannis Antetokounmpo. “During live play we called illegal leg to leg to contact. During postgame review when we looked at the play there was no illegal contact on the play.”

Doc Rivers told reporters that final designations still needed to be made on the three injured players on the injury report. He made it seem like Giannis Antetokounmpo and AJ Green will probably play, while Bobby Portis’ status is still fully up in the air.

The Bucks lost 115-114 to the Charlotte Hornets after a controversial foul call on Giannis Antetokounmpo sent Hornets star LaMelo Ball to the free-throw line with 7.3 seconds remaining. Though Ball appeared to trip over his own feet on a drive, Antetokounmpo was whistled for impeding Ball’s progress. Ball sunk the go-ahead free throws to give Charlotte the lead and eventually drop the Bucks to 4-9 on the season when Antetokounmpo missed a mid-range jumper on the Bucks’ final possession. “There was clearly not a foul,” Bucks coach Doc Rivers said. “When you watch the video, the ref was blocked out by one of our players.
