Plenty of current and former NBA players have taken aim at Anthony Edwards for his outrageous comments and now it’s DeMar DeRozan’s turn.
“I was trying to understand where he was coming from. But I know from my point of view, I would never discredit or undermine anybody who came before me,” DeRozan said on a recent appearance on Paul George’s podcast – Podcast P With Paul George. “I feel like everybody had their own skill, just because it wasn’t to a Michael Jordan level, don’t discredit it.”
This was the quote that started it all:
“I didn’t watch it back in the day so I can’t speak on it,” Edwards told The Wall Street Journal. “They say it was tougher back then than it is now, but I don’t think anybody had skill back then. [Michael Jordan] was the only one that really had skill, you know what I mean? So that’s why when they saw Kobe [Bryant] they were like, ‘Oh, my God.’ But now everybody has skill.”
Magic Johnson, Isiah Thomas, Kevin Garnett, Paul George and now DeMar have all had their say about the comments.
George called the comments “immature” and “disrespectful”, while Magic Johnson came up with the ultimate roast, saying, “I never respond to a guy who’s never won a championship”.
No doubt there will be someone else that comes along to try and take Ant down a few pegs.
