Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
First defeat of league’s leader Tornados (4-1) against second ranked Loewen (4-1) 85-75 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Tornados. It was a key game for the top position in East. Loewen keeps a position of East leader, which they share with defeated Tornados. Tornados will play next round against strong MBA trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Loewen will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Dresden at home.
The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Akademie Muenchen as it allowed them to take a leadership position in South. Akademie Muenchen smashed bottom-ranked Basketball-Akademie at home 90-55. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Basketball-Akademie at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. Basketball-Akademie will play next round against strong Ludwigsburg BBA trying to get back on the winning streak. Akademie Muenchen will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
A very close game took place in Wuerzburg between Akademie and RheinStars Koeln. Third ranked Akademie (3-2) got a very close home victory over 5th ranked RheinStars Koeln (1-5). Akademie managed to escape with a 2-point win 74-72 on Sunday evening. Akademie have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position in West with 3-2 record having five points less than leader Metropol Ruhr. RheinStars Koeln lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with five games lost. They share the position with Trier YG. Akademie will meet Bonn/Rh. (#4) on the road in the next round. RheinStars Koeln will play against the league’s leader Duesseldorf and hope to win that game.
There were no big surprises in other games of round 8:
In East Chemnitz smashed MBA on the road 89-64.
In North Paderborn lost to undefeated ALBA Berlin on its own court 95-106.
In North B Muenster managed to outperform Oldenburg in a road game 63-52. Braunschweig was rolled over Metropol Ruhr at home 62-82. Goettingen defeated Bremerhaven on the opponent’s court 66-61.
In South Sudhessen was smashed by Jena in a home game 67-87. Frankfurt was destroyed by Ludwigsburg BBA on the road 85-57.
In South B Urspring managed to outperform Crailsheim on its own court 91-81. Winless Tuebingen was rolled over Jahn Muenchen in a road game 113-59. Ulm was defeated by Urspring at home 64-76.
In West Heidelberg beat Bonn/Rh. on the opponent’s court 60-55. Duesseldorf won against Trier YG in a home game 82-64.
