Jayson Tatum formally sent his words of goodbye to Marcus Smart.
On Instagram, Tatum penned down a heartbreaking tribute to Smart as the veteran is set to join the Memphis Grizzlies in a shocker three-team trade that included the Boston Celtics.
Smart was dealt by the Celtics to the Grizzlies in completion of the said trade, while Boston received Kristaps Porzingis and two first-round picks. Washington, for its part, landed Tyus Jones and a second-round pick.
Smart, who embodied the Celtics’ spirit with his toughness and leadership since being drafted by the club last 2014, was reportedly devastated by the exit that he will make to Beantown according to Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe.
Boston has been in the postseason throughout Smart’s entire nine-year stint with them. He helped the franchise to reach five Conference Finals marks and a trip to the NBA Finals last year.
