The most important game in the last round took place in Mazeikiai between third ranked Zalgiris II (24-10) and fourth ranked Mazeikiai (22-13) on Saturday night. Zalgiris II was defeated by Mazeikiai in a tough game on the road 62-71. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Zalgiris II. 24 personal fouls committed by Zalgiris II helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of Karolis Guscikas (206-1992, agency: BIG) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). The former international swingman Arturas Jomantas (200-1985) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Liutauras Lelevicius (201-2003) replied with 17 points for Zalgiris II. Mazeikiai maintains fourth position with 22-13 record. Zalgiris II at the other side keeps the third place with ten games lost. Mazeikiai will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Zalgiris II will play at home against the league’s second-placed Telsiai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games in round 10 were not that significant. Vytis was beaten by Telsiai on the road 79-66. Stekas won against Palanga on its own court 79-72. Rytas 2 managed to outperform Kretinga in Vilnius 97-79. Silute managed to beat Atletas at home 69-63.
The most impressive performance of 10th round was 14 points and 14 rebounds by Medas Kuprijanovas of Atletas.

Delikatesas – Vilkaviskis 81-105

The game between 9th ranked Delikatesas (14-20) and eleventh ranked Vilkaviskis (14-20) in Joniskis ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Vilkaviskis outscored Delikatesas 105-81. Vilkaviskis players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Rokas Stankevicius (202-1995, agency: BIG) had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Gytis Macionis (195-2001) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Very expected game when 13th ranked Palanga (13-22) lost to eighth ranked Stekas (16-19) in Vilnius 72-79. Palanga was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Swingman Tadas Rinkunas (195-1991) scored 25 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and Justas Sinica (203-1985) chipped in 12 points during the contest. At the losing side Tadas Kymantas (186-1995) responded with 12 points and point guard Ernestas Jaskus (195-2000) scored 13 points. Four Palanga players scored in double figures. Palanga’s coach Povilas Sakinis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. Newly promoted Stekas maintains eighth position with 16-19 record. Greek Andreas Kalogiros (198-2002) scored 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and center Lukas Valantinas (206-2001) chipped in 21 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Five Rytas 2 players scored in double figures. Rytas 2’s coach Andrius Slezas allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side point guard Edgaras Danys (186-2000) responded with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Ukrainian swingman Maksym Lutsenko (188-1993, agency: BIG) scored 21 points. Rytas 2 moved-up to ninth place. Kretinga at the other side keeps the twelfth position with 22 games lost. They share it with Palanga. Atletas’ coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. Silute maintains sixth position with 15-19 record. Atletas lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 21 games lost. Silute will play against higher ranked Vytis (#5) in Sakiai in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Atletas will play at home against the league’s leader Suduva-Mantinga and hopes to get back on the winning track.
