Aleksandar Vezenkov

Cypriot-Bulgarian Aleksandar Vezenkov (206-F-1995) had a very impressive game in the last round for league’s second-best Olympiacos and that’s him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 10.
The 27-year old forward had the game-high 24 points adding six rebounds and two assists for Olympiacos in his team’s victory, helping them to beat ALBA (#18, 3-7) 86-76. Olympiacos maintains the 2nd position in Euroleague . They would have been even better if they hadn’t lost a few games earlier this season. Olympiacos will need more victories to improve their 7-3 record. Vezenkov has many years of experience at Olympiacos, through which he has constantly improved. Vezenkov has impressive league stats. He is in league’s top in points (2nd best: 20.1ppg) and averages solid 67.1% FGP and 43.4% from behind 3-point line.

The second most remarkable performance in last round’s games was young American forward Nigel Hayes-Davis (203-F-1994) of league’s best team Fenerbahce. Hayes-Davis impressed basketball fans with 22 points and 5 rebounds. Of course Fenerbahce cruised to a 82-72 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Milano (#17, 3-7). Of course Fenerbahce still keep the league’s top spot. His team belongs to top of the standings with 9-1 record and is considered one of the main candidates for the league title. Hayes-Davis is a newcomer at Fenerbahce and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team’s leaders.

The third best performed player last round was American Chris Jones (188-G-1993) of Valencia (#14). Jones showcased his all-around game by recording 19 points, five rebounds and seven assists in the last round. Despite Jones’ great performance Valencia lost 76-80 to the higher-ranked Zalgiris (#6, 6-4). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Valencia ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 6 games, recording just four victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Jones could help Valencia to bring them higher in the standings. Jones has a great season in Euroleague. After only 9 games, he made it on the list of the league’s leaders in points with 15.8ppg (9th best).
