The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Leuven Bears on the court of Antwerp Giants on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by Antwerp Giants 61-57. They made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. American players dominated the game. Forward Royce Hamm Jr (206-1999, college: UNLV, agency: MSG) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. point guard Maurice Watson (178-1993, college: Creighton) contributed with 11 points and 8 assists for the winners. Antwerp Giants’ coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Forward John Fulkerson (206-1997, college: Tennessee) replied with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds for Leuven Bears. Antwerp Giants is looking forward to face Limburg United on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Leuven Bears will play against Belfius Mons-Hainaut and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Important game to mention about took place in Aalst. Limburg United saved a 2-point victory on the road edging Okapi Aalst 82-80 on Sunday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Jonas Delalieux (202-1992) scored 27 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Alex Stein chipped in 16 points and 5 assists during the contest. Limburg United’s coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Serbian Nikola Popovic (211-1997, college: Boston Coll.) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds. Limburg United will play against Antwerp Giants at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Okapi Aalst will play against Oostende to get more than just one victory in their record.
One of the most interesting games of round 2 was a derby match between two teams from Holland. The game took place in Rotterdam where Zwolle won against host Feyenoord 82-77. Ryan Davis notched 25 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort. Even a double-double of 19 points and 10 assists by Shavar Reynolds Jr did not help to save the game for Feyenoord. Zwolle will meet at home Groningen in the next round. Feyenoord will play against ZZ Leiden and hope to win that game.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 2: ZZ Leiden smashed Den Helder on the road 105-79. Winless Amsterdam lost to Dutch defending champion Den Bosch on its own court 50-112. Brussels was outscored by Belfius Mons in Jemappes 85-110. Winless Mechelen lost to Belgian defending champion Oostende at home 91-97. Leeuwarden defeated Groningen on the opponent’s court 76-70. Yoast Utd. beat BAL Weert in a home game 74-70. Liege was destroyed by Charleroi on the road 83-62.
The most impressive performance of 2nd round was 17 points by Noah Tchendjou of Charleroi.

Feyenoord – Zwolle 77-82

One of the most interesting games of round 2 was a derby match between two teams from Holland. The game took place in Rotterdam where Zwolle won against host Feyenoord 82-77. Zwolle shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Ryan Davis (203-2000, college: Vermont) notched 25 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and Romanian swingman Dragos Diculescu (196-1999) supported him with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Even a double-double of 19 points and 10 assists by American guard Shavar Reynolds Jr (188-1998, college: Monmouth, agency: Haylett Sports) did not help to save the game for Feyenoord. His fellow American import swingman Trey Diggs (198-1999, college: BGSU) added 21 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts. Four Zwolle and five Feyenoord players scored in double figures. Zwolle will meet at home Groningen in the next round. Feyenoord will play against ZZ Leiden and hope to win that game.

Lithuanian forward Erikas Venskus (205-2000) notched 24 points and 6 assists to lead the effort and forward Wesley Alcegaire (198-1994) supported him with 17 points. Five ZZ Leiden players scored in double figures. ZZ Leiden’s coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 27 points (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) by American guard Darius Banks (196-1998, college: Chattanooga) did not help to save the game for Den Helder. Kangoeroes’ coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. Oostende will meet at home Okapi Aalst in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
