Ziaire Williams on Ja Morant: He flew all the way from Memphis just to come to my camp. As great as he is on the court, he’s even ten times better off the court.

More on this storyline
As reported by Damichael Cole of Memphis Commercial Appeal, this workout was conducted by the Grizzlies star’s father, Tee, along with trainers Trey Draper and Jonathan Thomas. Per Cole, Draper has a history with Edey, with the former being an assistant coach at IMG Academy while the latter played on the team. -via Clutch Points / August 21, 2024
The Memphis Grizzlies are looking to put their disappointing, injury-ravaged 2023-24 season in the rearview mirror, and what better way to do so than to have star point guard Ja Morant back heading the controls of the offense. But Morant’s return isn’t the only cause for excitement for Grizzlies fans. They will also be getting the services of the 2024 Naismith College Basketball Player of the Year Zach Edey, who will presumably be their starting center for the upcoming season. Fans got a glimpse of the future one-five pick-and-roll pairing after Morant posted a photo and video of himself working out with Edey at Southern Methodist University’s basketball facilities. The two appeared to engage in some helpful dialogue, which will bode well for how they connect on the floor as the backbones of the Grizzlies lineup. -via Clutch Points / August 21, 2024
Memphis Grizzlies fans finally got their first look of the duo many have been salivating to see. Grizzlies guard Ja Morant shared a photo and video of himself working out with rookie center Zach Edey. This is the first time clips of Morant and Edey working out together have surfaced. The two were at Southern Methodist University’s basketball facilities. Morant shared on his Instagram account Edey setting him a screen, then rolling to the basket for a lob dunk. That’s a sight many Grizzlies fans expect to see going forward. -via Memphis Commercial Appeal / August 21, 2024
Ziaire Williams on GOAT debate: My opinion, LeBron James, but I was in the LeBron era, so I know people might say Michael Jordan. I definitely respect the guy, just wasn’t alive to see it. -via HoopsHype / August 26, 2024
Ziaire Williams on his role: Definitely versatility on the defensive end, starting off switching one through four, guarding guards, guarding forwards. On the offensive end, pushing the pace, being a lob threat, shooting threes, cutting. I feel I could be really like a Swiss army knife, just being used in different areas. And for me personally, I just love to be on the court, man. The coach could put me in any position, and as long as I’m on the court and helping my team in a positive way, I’m a happy man. -via HoopsHype / August 26, 2024
Ziaire Willliams on best moment so far: Definitely my rookie year when we made it to the second round. That was super cool, man. I love to win, so that’s the farthest I’ve gotten. That was the most fun I had. -via HoopsHype / August 26, 2024
