MM: Yeah, that’s a really good question. That’s something I’ve thought about a little bit over the last week because everyone would say that probably Babe Ruth is the GOAT of baseball, but he probably wouldn’t even make a team. And football, you have the best quarterbacks of the time, like Joe Namath, Johnny Unitas… You could probably pick the worst quarterback in the NFL and they’re probably more talented and more skilled than the best quarterback 60 years ago. So it’s interesting how other sports accept that but they still respect these older guys. But basketball, so much of the old heads try to discredit the younger generations and then now I think old heads are getting upset because now it’s for the first time in their life, it’s a time where the younger guys will be like, ‘Hey man, Tyus Jones, the point guard for the Wizards, is probably better than Bob Cousy ever was.’
It’s interesting the resistance from basketball fans to accept that these older guys were great and they were the best players of their time, but today’s dudes are really, really, probably more talented. You don’t see that much in baseball and football.
