Warriors Rookie Speaks On Viral Wemby Poster, Wemby Responds

Warriors rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis has opened up about his viral dunk on Victor Wembanyama, which occurred during Golden State’s 112-102 win over San Antonio on Monday.

Jackson-Davis broke down the play for the media after the game.

“I saw that he overplayed it and that he overplayed it to my right,” he said. “Obviously, I’m left-handed, so I think I spun or got to my left hand and I had the step on him so, just trying him.

“I told Loon (Kevon Looney) before the game that if I got the chance to try him, I would. But at the end of the day, sometimes you dunk on people, sometimes you get dunked on.”

Wembanyama, on the other hand, was not fazed at all by the play.

“Getting dunked on is nothing,” he said. “It’s part of the game. I dunk on a lot of people and a lot of people dunk on me too. But I think I block more often than I get dunked on, so that’s positive.”

The Spurs have now fallen to 14-51, last in the Western Conference and four and a half games back from Portland, who are second-last.

The Warriors move to 34-30 and sit in 10th place in the Western Conference. They have also won nine of their past 10 road games.
