Golden State really want to keep Bob Myers and he has until June 30 to decide whether he will return as the franchise’s general manager.
Since his arrival in 2011, Myers has been instrumental in building their dynasty but is apparently torn about whether he wants to remain with the team after his contract is up.
The Warriors have reportedly put multiple contract offers on the table this past year.
Despite that, the Dubs have had “no substantial contract extension talks in months and the sides are bracing for the likelihood that Myers could walk away from the franchise,” The Athletic reported on Wednesday.
Now, it is being reported there is if an offer that would make Myers the highest paid GM in the NBA.
“While it may not be enough to keep Bob Myers with the Golden State Warriors, multiple league sources believe that the contract offer extended to the team’s president of basketball operations would make him the highest-paid general manager in the NBA,” San Francisco Chronicle’s C.J. Holmes reported Friday.
The offer is expected to exceed $10 million in annual salary, Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fisher reports from league sources. Myers is already getting around $8 million per year currently.
Heat president Pat Riley is reportedly the highest paid executive in the league, taking home $11 million in salary per year.
The Warriors have a huge amount the sort out over the offseason but before any of that can be decided, locking up Myers for the foreseeable future remains a priority.
