The time is ticking, but Ben Simmons is not showing any signs of getting better after sitting out a full year.
In his most recent appearance on the court the 26-year-old point guard played 16 minutes for the Nets and finished the game against the Mavericks with 2 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists.
Former NBA player Wally Szczerbiak was blunt when talking about the three-time All-Star. According to him, Simmons is way overrated.
Via Stefan Bondy of New York Daily News:
“He’s supposed to be a good defender. He was playing for the Brooklyn Nets and they were giving up 125 points per game and they got their coach (Steve Nash) fired because they couldn’t stop anybody,” Szczerbiak said. “Ben Simmons is so overrated you can’t even put him in the game anymore. It’s a little bit of a shame.”
The former number one draft pick is averaging 5.6 points, 6 rebounds and 6.6 assists per game for the Nets.
