The Miami Heat advanced to the second round of the playoffs after beating the Atlanta Hawks 97-94 in Game 5 to win the series 4-1.
Playing without Kyle Lowry and Jimmy Butler, Victor Oladipo lead the team with 23 points on 8-of-16 shooting.
“I remember a year ago today, around this time last year, I was sitting in a dark room by myself and just broke down,” said Oladipo after the game. “Not because I quit, but because I was at the lowest point I could be at. And now, God has put me in this position today so I just made the most of it.”
The Heat held Trae Young to 11 points in Game 5. Young averaged just 15.4 points in the series.
The Heat are also guaranteed at least six days of rest before playing the winner of the Sixers-Raptors series.
“We’ll go back to our cave, bandage up, hopefully get healthy and then we’ll see what happens in that series,” Erik Spoelstra said. “But definitely the guys have earned a couple days of just quality rest and treatment.”
