The #24 Alabama Crimson Tide and the Vanderbilt Commodores are set to square off in an SEC matchup at 9 p.m. ET Feb. 22 at Memorial Gym. Vanderbilt will be strutting in after a win while the Crimson Tide will be stumbling in from a loss.
Bama came up short against the Kentucky Wildcats this past Saturday, falling 90-81. A silver lining for Bama was the play of guard Keon Ellis, who shot 7-for-11 from downtown and finished with 28 points and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Vanderbilt didn’t have too much breathing room in their contest with the Texas A&M Aggies this past Saturday, but they still walked away with a 72-67 victory. The top scorer for Vanderbilt was guard Scotty Pippen Jr. (24 points).
The Crimson Tide are the favorite in this one, with an expected 4-point margin of victory. But bettors beware: they are only 6-15 against the spread when favored.
Bama came out on top in a nail-biter against the Commodores when the two teams previously met in February of last year, sneaking past 82-78. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bama since the squad won’t have home-court advantage. We’ll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
