UNC basketball lands commitment from former Notre Dame guard

Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program have landed another recruit out of the transfer portal. After taking a visit to Chapel Hill this past week, former Notre Dame guard Cormac Ryan has pledged his commitment to UNC.

Ryan is now the third player to pick the Tar Heels out of the transfer portal, joining Paxson Wojcik and Jae’Lyn Withers. The guard opted to transfer out of Notre Dame and find a new team for the upcoming season.

The New York native was originally a four-star recruit and picked Stanford over Michigan, Northwestern, Notre Dame, and Villanova in his original recruitment. After one year at Stanford, he opted to transfer out and went to Notre Dame.

Last season Ryan averaged 12.3 points, 4 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game while shooting 40.9 percent from the field. That included shooting 34.4 percent from the three-point line.

UNC has lost six players to the transfer portal and two to graduation, creating some needs for the roster. While they have filled a few, they are still pursuing other prospects and may not be done adding.
