The countdown for the 2022-23 college basketball season continues on as teams are set to tip off this Fall for the new campaign. For the UNC basketball program, they enter this season among the favorites to not only win the Atlantic Coast Conference but the national title as well.
UNC returns four of their five starters from their Final Four team a year ago and have added transfer Pete Nance plus welcome in a top 20 recruiting class as well. It’s safe to say expectations are high in Chapel Hill.
But before things get started, the program is releasing their schedule as it gives fans an early look at whats to come. And on Friday, they dropped their non-conference schedule for the upcoming year:
October 28 vs. Johnson C. Smith (exhibition game, Chapel Hill)
November 7 vs. UNCW (Chapel Hill)
November 11 vs. College of Charleston (Chapel Hill)
November 15 vs. Gardner-Webb (Chapel Hill)
November 20 vs. James Madison (Chapel Hill)
November 24-25, 27 in the Phil Knight Invitational (Portland, Ore.)
November 30 at Indiana, ACC/Big Ten Challenge (Bloomington, Ind.)
December 13 vs. The Citadel (Chapel Hill)
December 17 in the CBS Sports Classic (location, opponent to be announced)
December 21 in the Jumpman Invitational (opponent to be announced, Charlotte, N.C.)
The Tar Heels have six teams officially announced for the non-conference schedule plus a few events including the Phil Knight Invitational and the Jumpman Invitational. They are also set to take on Ohio State in the CBS Sports Classic although that hasn’t been made official just yet.
