The Minnesota Timberwolves announced that they have “parted ways” with President of Basketball Operations Gersson Rosas.

Rosas, 43, was hired by the Timberwolves in 2019.
Over two-plus years with the organization, Rosas helped facilitate the Andrew Wiggins for D’Angelo Russell trade, the drafting of Anthony Edwards, and a myriad of other organizational moves.
Timberwolves’ owner Glen Taylor announced that Sachin Gupta will “assume basketball operations oversight while remaining Timberwolves Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations.”

The Timberwolves have been rumored to have interest in disgruntled 3x all-star Ben Simmons; who reportedly won’t report to 76ers minicamp, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
At this point, it’s conjecture to say that Rosas was let go for his feelings on a Simmons trade – but in the end, that may end up proven true.
