The Timberwolves made arguably the biggest move of this offseason so far by trading for Rudy Gobert. There were rumors before the trade that the Jazz could move the three-time Defensive Player of the Year and dissolve the team’s core.
However, Utah was not looking to just trade the French center. According to Minnesota’s new president of basketball operations Tim Connelly, the Wolves faced maybe the biggest competition for Gobert from the Jazz, as reported by Dane Moore.
He also said that Minnesota had a pretty good sense of the market and the price it would take to get the player.
