Nuggets coach Michael Malone wasn’t one to hold back after his team won the chip, this much was evident at the team’s championship parade where he was best on ground.
It was Malone’s and Denver’s first-ever NBA championship and he was partying like it.
The coach donned a huge silver chain around his neck, was chugging beers and trash talking, which made him go viral on social media.
He even wore a shirt with a quote of his and the championship trophy on it that read, “Put this in your pipe and smoke it.”
Malone appeared on The Lowe Post recently and recalled that day and how his wife was trying to get him to slow down on the drinking atop of a firetruck as he had a big speech to make.
Malone also recalled the message storied Warriors coach Steve Kerr had for him.
“You talk about people who reached out to me, Zach?,” Malone told ESPN’s Zach Lowe. “I had so many people reach out and say, ‘Hey, that’s the Mo Malone that I know. You let your hair down…I was on the phone with Steve Kerr. And Steve Kerr, who’s won how many, four? He was like, ‘I loved every minute of it. Good for you.’ So, I have no regret, I’m glad we enjoyed it and hopefully we’ll be back here doing it a few more times, if not one more.”
Golden State will be looking to get one step closer to a championship this season after going down to the Lakers in the second round, as Kerr enters his tenth season coaching the franchise.
