Stephen Curry says ‘I’m going to play’ in Game 4 Despite Injury

“I’m going to play,” were the first words out of Steph Curry at today’s press conference when he was asked about his availability for Game 4.

Currylimped off the court after Al Horford landed on the All-Star’s foot as the two fought for a loose ball with 4:07 left in the fourth quarter of the Warrior’s 116-110 Game 3 loss.

Curry lay on the court for a few minutes in pain before getting up.

“I’ll be all right,” Curry said immediately after Game 3. “I got caught underneath Al [Horford]. Obviously, there’ll be some pain, but I’ll be all right.

The Warriors did not practice Thursday, but Curry seemed confident he would play Friday.

“[I got] about ten and a half hours of sleep, a couple dunks in the ice bucket, and that’s about it for now,” Curry said per ESPN. “Then take advantage of today and tomorrow to get completely ready for the game. Get as much recovery and healing as possible and understand how important Game 4 is. I’m excited about the opportunity.”

Curry compared the injury to a foot sprain he suffered against the Celtics in March.

“Because I went through what I went through in the regular season and coming back, I know exactly what it is and what I’ve got to deal with and the soreness, pain level, and all that,” Curry said. “So once I got checked out last night, I knew I wouldn’t have to go get any extra tests just because we’ve been through this before.”

The Warriors will need Curry in the lineup to have a chance against Boston, but they’ll also need better play from Draymond Green and a hot hand from Klay Thompson.

Green scored just two points, three assists, and four rebounds, while Thompson had 25 points on 41.2 percent shooting from the field overall and 38.5 percent from behind the arc.

“I have to be more aggressive on both sides of the ball,” Green said.

Game 4 is Friday at 9 pm ET.
