The very first battle between Steph Curry and Klay Thompson was everything we hoped for and more and the former Splash Brothers have spoken about the epic game.
Curry somewhat spoiled Klay’s homecoming after dropping a huge 37 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists on 51.9 percent from the field in the Warriors’ 120-117 win.
From the first play, it was on between Steph and Klay as Thompson caught a pass on the left wing and posted up Curry.
“I’m surprised they ran a post-up for him on the first play,” Curry said. “I blacked out on that one, I wasn’t going to let him score and I fouled him. I thought I was in training camp again where I was trying to get a stop.”
Thompson was feeling it during the contest and at one point during the second quarter he did Steph’s infamous shimmy move and although Curry made him pay later, he said he didn’t regret it.

“It was an impromptu thing, but when you’re feeling it you do stuff instinctually,” Thompson said of his shimmy. “I’ve done it before. I know Steph’s done it many times, so it was a fun, playful thing to do and he was kind of surprised I did it, but it was a great shot and I’ll probably still do it in the future. I play my best brand of ball when I’m playing loose.”
During his on-court postgame interview, Steph was aksed what he thought about Klay’s shimmy. To which he replied, “He knows better than that,” with a laugh.
Later in the game, emotions were running super high after Steph went on a 12-0 run for the Dubs and gave them a lead they weren’t going to blow.
He screamed into the TV cameras, “This is my sh*t. Here. You wanna stay here. Ahhhhh!”, after a 23-point second half.

Klay got the feel the wrath of his former teammate and it stung.
“Yeah, it hurts to be on the other side of one of his flurries,” Thompson said. “Guy got hot at the end and made some ridiculous shots, and I’ve been on the other end, and it sucks.”
The next Warriors-Mavs game will be in early February. Safe to say we have it circled in our calendars.
