Steph Curry Reacts to Historic 50-Point Game 7

The Warriors defeated the Kings in a convincing 120-100 Game 7 win on Sunday and of course, Steph Curry stole the show.

The shooter put up a playoff career high of 50 points, seven rebounds and six assists at a time where his team needed him the most and he certainly rose the occasion. Curry also became the first NBA in history to ever score a 50-piece in a Game 7.

Curry was asked what was going through his mind during the game, especially in the third quarter when his team started to take a larger lead: “Just keep being aggressive, they made a huge adjustment in Game 6 to go small and try to get the pace up up so we wanted to counter that with patience on offense, finding the right matchup and just being aggressive and scoring with the space we had on the floor.

“Crazy thing is, I just wanted to come out and look for shots early and get my teammates going throughout the game but when I’m looking for shots it usually works in our favor.”

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith said after the game: “We need to have a conversation if he’s the greatest point guard to ever live.”

Center Kevon Looney was also instrumental in the win, getting 11 points and 21 rebounds and after the game, Warriors coach Steve Kerr said he believes Looney is the best center in the league because of the value he brings.

Golden State will go on to face the LA Lakers in the second round, in what will be a huge matchup between two of the NBA’s biggest franchises.

“They’re a totally different team since the trade deadline,’ Curry said of the Lakers. “Watching the series against Memphis – they’re playing unbelievable all the pieces fit so its going be huge test for us and totally different style than what we just faced so we got to make those adjustments but thank god we got to worry about that because these last 36 ours have been a little dicey.”

Game 1 of the second round between the Lakers and the Warriors will take place on Tuesday, May 2 at 7:00PM PT.
