Philadelphia 76ers’ matchup against the Brooklyn Nets was not the main storyline for the team, as Ben Simmons has reported back to Philadelphia Monday, per ESPN’s Andrian Wojnarowski.
Embiid addressed the situation, after the end of the game vs. the Nets, claiming that the team is better with Simmons on the floor.
“I personally haven’t talked to him since the season ended. Obviously, I tried, but it wasn’t successful as a lot of my teammates have. It’s unfortunate the whole situation happened, but we’re a better team with him on the floor.
I think there are going to be some adjustments, but it doesn’t need to be awkward,” Embiid said, per Kyle Neubeck of Philly Voice. “We are professionals, we want to win. I want to win. He gives me the best chance to win, so that’s what I’m going to go with.”
Simmons surprised the Sixers by reporting to camp Monday, while, he was away from the team for months. As Embiid admitted, the Sixers’ players haven’t spoken to him for a long time.
“We just need to buy in and believe that we have a chance to win, which I believe with the group that we have, and you know obviously him being back, I believe we have a chance to win,” Embiid concluded.
It’s still unclear when Simmons will be available to play, but, his first appearance with the team will certainly be interesting in many ways.
