NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal sees glimpses of other league legends when watching Ja Morant. Recently he revealed a conversation that he had with the Grizzlies young superstar in which Shaq told Morant directly that he thinks him to be the best player in the league.
“You should’ve seen this little kid’s face when I said ‘Yo man, you’re the best player in the league. He was like ‘huh?’ and [I said] I’m not playing with you bro, you’re the best–for real. I promise you’re the best,” the four-time NBA champion said of Morant on TNT, via Angelo Guinhawa of ClutchPoints. “Ja is good, Penny was like that, Kobe was like that. This kid, it will definitely be his league in a few years.”
Morant has significantly improved his numbers this season compared to the last year. He is averaging 27.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 6.6 assists per game.
He helped Memphis become one of the elite teams in the Western Conference. With 45 wins and 22 losses the Grizzlies are second in the West.
