LA Clippers center Serge Ibaka has been ruled out of Thursday’s season opener against the Golden State Warriors.
Coach Tyronn Lue made the announcement after practice on Tuesday.
Ibaka had recently ramped up to 5-on-5 drills during practice, but saw limited runs after undergoing back surgery in June.
Last season marked his first in a Clippers uniform, but it came to an end late in the season when he injured his back.
In 41 games, Ibaka averaged 11.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game in 23.3 minutes per game.
Along with Ibaka, Lue also mentioned Marcus Morris Sr.’s availability for Thursday’s game.
Morris Sr., who suffered a right knee injury in the playoffs last season, would be available to play in San Francisco on Thursday.
Serge Ibaka, 32, has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Orlando Magic, Toronto Raptors, and now the Clippers.
