Robert Sarver is suspended from running the Phoenix Suns, but he is still in control of any trades that surpass a certain agreed-upon dollar amount.
Sam Garvin is in charge of the day-to-day as acting governor and said he has a sign-off on trades, but only to a certain point.
Sarver has agreed to sell the Suns to Mat Ishbia, but the vetting process on him is not expected to be complete before the Feb. 9th trade deadline.
The Suns continue to seek a trade of Jae Crowder and the Sarver situation is a contributing factor on why a deal hasn’t been reached. The Suns have had talks about various multiplayer trades over the past few months that would all likely have to end up being approved by Sarver.
