Ricky Rubio and the Cleveland Cavaliers are in talks about reaching a buyout agreement. Rubio, who has been dealing with mental health issues and spending time in Spain this season, may not return to basketball, raising doubts about his future in the sport.
It’s unlikely that Rubio will play in the current season, and with a guaranteed contract of $4.25 million for the next year, the discussions center around finding a resolution to his current deal.
The Cavaliers had signed Rubio to a three-year, $18.5 million contract in the summer of 2022, following his recovery from a torn ACL suffered in January of that year.
