The elite “Guard Whisperer” of the basketball development field holds a high regard in Cleveland Cavaliers standout Evan Mobley.
Olin Simplis, a renowned NBA skills trainer, claimed that Mobley possesses a special talent which he can use to embark the next level.
Simplis further noted that the second-year pro has a sky high potential, in which he describes Mobley’s trajectory as a hybrid between two-time league MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and the legendary Kevin Garnett.
“Evan is such a special talent,” claimed Simplis in an interview with Erica Clark of Newz Journals.
“His next step is being in the conversations with the best bigs in the league,” he added on Mobley’s progression following his training about shooting, second dribbling and finishing below the rim. “I see Evan as a hybrid between Giannis [Antetokounmpo] and KG [Kevin Garnett]. The way Giannis takes the ball off the rim and puts pressure on the opposing team with the push and his playmaking abilities. KG’s back-to-the-basket turn-around actions.
“Just keep refining his overall game! The kid has a chance to be special.”
Being projected by a notable skills specialist to reach two of the best big men in NBA history is surely an overwhelming compliment on the side of Mobley. Having trained with Kevin Durant, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Spencer Dinwiddie, the former USC Trojans star indeed has made his own striking impression on Simplis.
In his rookie season, Mobley helped the Cavs in fulfilling a productive 2021-2022 season, averaging 15.0 points on 50.8 percent shooting and 8.3 boards while being named as a member of All-Rookie First Team.
With Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen, the big man will certainly be ready to lead the Cavs back in postseason contention this upcoming season
