LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers now have every reason to be frustrated by their embattled loss against the Boston Celtics in their tight Saturday rivalry clash.
In the pool report released by the league following the marquee match, Crew Chief Eric Lewis told Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe that they failed to blow the whistle for LeBron James’ final play in regulation.
“There was contact. At the time, during the game, we did not see a foul. The crew missed the play.”
The entire NBA circle was in utter disbelief regarding the missed call, wherein James bulldozed his way towards the rim in hopes to deliver the game-winning layup for the Lakers. The four-time MVP, who missed his layup, was slapped on his left wrist by Jayson Tatum on his shot attempt.
The Lakers eventually fell in a painful fashion against the Celtics in overtime, 125-121. James’ marvelous’ 41-point explosion went wasted, as the 13th-seeded L.A. drops to 23-27 in the Western Conference ladder.
