After a promising season which turned out to be a disappointing exit in the Valley, JaVale McGee isn’t closing his doors yet to return as a Phoenix Sun.
He indeed considers his chances to rejoin the club once he enters free agency this offseason.
“Definitely consider it, definitely consider an opportunity,” McGee said about returning to the Suns as an unrestricted free agent, via Kellan Olson of Arizona Sports. “At this point in my career, I’m definitely focused on myself and what’s best for me and my situation and my family.”
McGee has been vocal about his great experience in Phoenix, becoming their lead hype man and a veteran voice in the sidelines throughout the .2021-2022 campaign.
He served as their prized free agent last summer, playing as a serviceable backup for Deandre Ayton while averaging 9.2 points, 6.7 boards, 1.1 blocks in 62 percent shooting across 74 occasions.
As such, the one-year, $5 million deal he inked with the team is set to expire this June, and only time can tell if he’ll strike an extended pair-up with the franchise.
“I know what I bring to a team if it’s any organization that I go to. For me, that’s what it’s all about. Make sure I’m valuing myself as much as the team (is) valuing me.”
