Amid rumors that Chris Paul is going to be traded away from Phoenix, he has spoken out about what he really wants.
And that is to remain at the Suns.
“Absolutely,” Paul told Duane Rankin of AZ Central. “That’s why I’m there.
“I’ve talked with my family, we’ve had conversations about what could be, what might be. I’ve talked with my agent. Talked to my brother (C.J. Paul).”
Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes last week tweeted that the Suns were waiving Paul but that isn’t quite the case.
The franchise is exploring it’s options and they may trade him before June 28th, when his $30.8 million contracts takes full effect.
Otherwise he could be stretched, waived or remain in Phoenix.
“Sources informed The Republic this week the Suns are still exploring options regarding Paul, who is in the third year of his four-year, $120-million contract,” Rankin wrote.
Paul is currently with his family in Los Angeles, where they permanently reside.
“I’m working out, training, spending time with my family,” Paul said.
There have even been rumors of a swap between Paul for 10-time All-Star James Harden and is something that has been quietly circulated in league circles.
“A reunion between Harden and Kevin Durant makes for great fodder, and the bearded point guard could feasibly pick up his 2023-24 player option on the condition Philadelphia trades him to the Suns,” Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer wrote recently.
Teams like the Lakers, Bucks and Celtics remain viable options for CP3 is he does get traded away.
