The Detroit Pistons continued some end-of-year roster shuffling, even after signing Carsen Edwards to a two-year deal. Detroit waived Chris Smith from his Two-Way contract and replaced him with Braxton Key. Key had recently completed a 10-day contract with the Pistons.
Smith did not appear in a game with Detroit during his rookie season. He spent the year rehabbing from a torn ACL suffered while in his senior year at UCLA. Smith then suffered a second ACL surgery during the rehab process, which would keep him out into next season, as well.
Key appeared in five games with Detroit while on his 10-day deal. In 20.4 minutes per game, Key averaged 6.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.6 blocks.
