Former Boston Celtics star Paul Pierce feels like the Memphis Grizzlies should already start looking ahead to next season (1-7 record).

“I really didn’t have no expectations for the Grizzlies, especially with Ja Morant missing 25 games, losing Steven Adams for the year, and then your asking Desmond Bane to kinda carry your team with [Jaren] Jackson in the middle…he’s more of a defensive player, he’s not gonna really be able to carry your offense. The crazy thing about it in the past: They played well without Morant. But everybody sees them coming now, and with the West getting better, other teams getting better…I don’t know. Do you wait it out in Memphis because you got so many young players and just see what happens or do you make a move? To me if I’m Memphis, I just wait it out. This is kinda like a dead year for them. Throw this one out the window, they done. This season’s done. Right now if I’m Memphis, we focused on getting Ja Morant back right, let’s get him back right, this what this year is about. Get him back on the same page with the team, let him come back, play well, clean up his image, and then next year we’ll see where we at because they’re still young, we can still see where they’re gonna be at a year from now. Let’s get him off suspension, let’s get him out here, and get the fans back excited about his game. I don’t think they going nowhere this year because they off to a bad start. Let’s refresh his image, let’s see him in interviews, let’s see what he on off the court. That’s what I’m focused on for Memphis, I don’t really got no expectations for them.”
