Olympiacos is in active negotiations with Zalgiris Kaunas over the potential acquisition of Naz Mitrou-Long, according to Eurohoops.
The 30-year-old guard, who joined Zalgiris from Olimpia Milano this summer, is seeking a more prominent role, making him a viable target for Olympiacos.
Mitrou-Long’s tenure with Zalgiris has seen limited playing time, averaging around 10 minutes per game and contributing 4.1 points.
Reportedly, Zalgiris is open to releasing him, but a potential buyout is on the table to secure compensation from Olympiacos.
Mitrou-Long is expected to receive his Greek passport soon, which would make him a domestic player for Olympiacos.
This move echoes Olympiacos’ earlier signing of Ignas Brazdeikis from Zalgiris at the start of the season. While Zalgiris received a buyout for Brazdeikis, they have yet to make any additions to replace him.
Olympiacos and Zalgiris are scheduled to face off in EuroLeague this Friday in Pireaus. The Greek powerhouse currently holds the seventh spot with a 5-4 record, while the Lithuanian champions sit at 12th with a 4-5 record.
