The Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers are “actively engaged” in trade discussions involving Kyrie Irving and Russell Westbrook, sources told Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports.
Haynes adds that there is “optimism” that a deal can be completed, though there are still hurdles that remain.
The Nets want draft compensation and Joe Harris included in the deal, with the Lakers seeking Seth Curry instead of Harris.
Harris has two years and $38.6 million left on his contract, with Curry on an expiring $8.5 million deal.
The Nets reportedly will not be rushed into making the trade.
