Notes on some college basketball eligibility updates and a player you need to know.

  • Ole Miss junior guard Brandon Murray was ruled eligible last month by the NCAA, giving the squad another dynamic two-way player (averaging 6.0 PPG/2.5 RPG/1.5 APG/0.8 SPG/57.1% FG/40.0% 3-PT/85.7% FT in four games). The Rebels will begin conference play at 13-0.
  • BYU freshman forward Marcus Adams Jr. also got cleared recently, playing eight minutes and scoring 2 points vs. Bellarmine at home on December 22nd (101-59 win). I still like Adams’ potential to one day become an NBA draft pick, but with BYU gelling so far (12-1 start), minutes don’t look available this season to prove that.
  • A decision still hasn’t been made on Kentucky big man Zvonimir Ivisic, which seems to be hurting his NBA draft stock (#70 ranked player in ESPN’s best available). However the 20-year-old looks like a First Round selection when playing, that’s for sure.
  • Quick note: UK Wildcats freshman guard Reed Sheppard is rising up draft boards thanks to his impressive overall skillset (56.0% 3-PT/4.3 APG/2.8 SPG).
