The first round of the NCAA Tournament started with a bang on Thursday and the action continues Friday with 16 more games that are sure to bring upsets, thrilling finishes and unexpected heroes. Among the teams in action will be No. 1 overall seed UConn, which makes its NCAA Tournament debut against No. 16 seed Stetson.
The Huskies are looking to become college basketball’s first repeat national champion since Florida in 2006 and 2007. But they will be forced to navigate a challenging East Region and a potential second-round matchup with either No. 8 seed FAU or No. 9 seed Northwestern. Those two are tangling in the day’s first game to begin a Friday marathon that will last past midnight for viewers in the Eastern time zone.
No. 5 seed Saint Mary’s and No. 12 seed Grand Canyon are serving as the nightcap and the concluding act for the first round in a game set to tip at approximately 10:05 p.m. ET. Among the teams that will be in action throughout the day are No. 4 seed Duke taking on No. 13 seed Vermont and No. 1 seed Houston, which is beginning its journey against No. 16 seed Longwood.
