Chet Holmgren made his return to the court on Monday night in the 2023 Summer League. The former No. 2 overall pick spent the entire 2022-23 season recovering from a Lisfranc injury to his right foot.
Eleven months later, he returned to action in OKC Thunder’s 95-85 win over the Utah Jazz. The 21-year-old finished the game with 15 points, nine rebounds, four blocks and two assists.
NBA Twitter said a few things about Holmgren and his first game back after a devastating injury.
There were several times tonight Chet Holmgren slipped a screen but wasn’t thrown the ball,
Could’ve easily had some more easy buckets. SGA and Giddey will make those plays.

Evan Mobley, Chet Holmgren, and Victor Wembanyama in consecutive draft classes. Not sure we will see that many all-time great defensive prospects in consecutive draft classes again.

Chet Holmgren refuses to do his postgame interview without his teammates, just like last year.
They were asked what it was like to have him back.
JDub: “It’s a blessing.”
Mann: “Reaall good. Especially down at the rim.”
JWill: “Great. It was great sharing the court with him.”— Brandon Rahbar (@BrandonRahbar) July 4, 2023
Chet Holmgren getting overrated chants in Summer League after dropping 15-9-2 and 4 blocks in his first game back in a year and getting the win convincingly is crazy hating lol.

If he kept these constintely, he’d be average bam bam number. What a player he is even with all of the rust. Wait until he gets his momentum back, and in his zone

Chet Holmgren looked like a guy who hadn’t played in a year for most of the first quarter and like a guy who can make an impact for the Thunder this season since.

In terms of Chet Holmgren, this game is 99% about just getting back on the court and back into game action and 1% about his performance
